Making laws isn't all that we needed government for. We need symbols to represent what we stand for... to display our ideals, to comfort the afflicted. You use the Royals for that. In America we bestow that role on the President. As you can see from the daily headlines that doesn't always work well... so we also use the flag. That's tricky too. Agitators burn those. We try using celebrities. Bill Cosby didn't work too well either, but even he was better than most politicians. Anarchism is just another failed representation of our quest for Utopia or our creation of Santa Clause to represent generosity. As Chico Marx reminds us, however "you can't fool me, there ain't no Sanity Clause." watch?v=G_Sy6oiJbEk

I quite like having a Royal Family. No rhyme or reason to it...i just do. And they've helped with sales this week with the wedding tat we've had in I caught two bits of the wedding, i turned on my tv and saw her dress. Turned it off again. Turned it on again to put the radio on and caught the procession which i watched for a bit as i enjoy watching the horses and the guards, some of whom Harry, i believe, knows personally. I do admire his love and passion for our forces. maybe that's why i don't mind them, that connection they have to our armed forces. Life So Short, The Craft So Long To Learn

The closest we ever came to royalty here in the states was JFK and Jackie. I realize the royals no longer rule the government but I believe it was a lovely wedding. Both William and Harry have turned into such wonderful men......Diana would have been proud.

rebel I agree - we can be civilised and have different views! I think the Royals are an anachronism but I doubt they are going anywhere... A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing. George Bernard Shaw Jenny
